Extreme Hangman adds a creative twist to hangman. It is played on a virtual chalk board and there are many situations your stick-figure may find itself in. From the classic hangman situation, being hung from a noose, to getting your brains eaten by zombies, Extreme Hangman will keep your attention with the variety of creative animations. You get six false choices and two hints before your stick-person dies. From actors to supermarket, there’s a category for everyone. With a variety of categories and ranging difficulties, Extreme Hangman is great for the novice or veteran player.
What I like most about Extreme Hangman is the creative situations your stick-person is put in. Instead of just enjoying guessing the word, I now also have fun seeing how my stick-person will react to my guess. The graphics are smooth and flawless. The local multiplayer is great for playing with a friend, but the word you choose must be at least five letters long. The options allow you to greatly customize the game. You can choose which animation you want to use or just change the difficulty. Extreme Hangman is extremely fun and addicting, even losing is fun!
Even though Extreme Hangman is a great game, it isn’t perfect. The sound fits the game but is very annoying. The online feature is a good idea, if it can be fixed. I tried it a few times with a friend and out of the many times we tried, we only got into the game once, and got disconnected within a minute. Those are really the only two things I can complain about with Extreme Hangman.
Overall, Extreme Hangman had me from the beginning. With the addicting gameplay, and creative animations, Extreme Hangman is one of my favourite apps. Hangman is a common game that has been remade countless times. I can honestly say that this is one of the best, if not the best hangman app out there. If you like hangman, you’ll love Extreme Hangman!
Overall Ratings:

-Mike.

Platypus iPhone Game App Review

Platypus: Enjoyable 2D arcade shooting.
| Our Rating: 7.9/10 | ![]() |
[Screenshots] |
Version Reviewed: 1.20
Developer: Handmark, Inc [iTunes Link]
Price as of Review: $4.99
Current iTunes Rating: 4/5
Size: 4.8MB
Lite Version: [iTunes Link]
Platypus is a uniquely themed arcade shooter which will bring back a lot of nostalgia for folks who played the hundreds of similar games in the time of the Nintendo 64. The goal of Platypus is to gain as many points by shooting up enemies with one of several weapons (power-ups are available throughout each stage). There’s a huge amount of stages and levels to go through, beating all of them would take several hours being a skilled player. Although you only get four lives, you’re able to continue where you left off, just with your points reset.
Like all classic arcade shooters the high score board is your main motivation to playing – although Platypus is very enjoyable, it’s not really the addictive paradigm and therefore you’ll probably put it away once beat. Unfortunately there’s no global high scores and the only competition is yourself, friends who you let use your device and the pre-ranked entries. However the four total stages should be more than enough to keep you entertained for that five dollars worth of time.
The graphics are very unique, the theme is well, it’s clay. Everything was basically drawn from clay. Although it doesn’t look modern or extremely detailed it gives a nice effect and really sets the theme. The graphics in all are satisfactory, keeping them at a low level leaves room for game stability, and with the huge amount of objects (bullets, enemies, particles, etc) on the screen at the same time, stability is key. Handmark Inc has done a great job on the control interface, you can control via touch or accelerometer and both allow you to set sensitivity and calibration. Nifty eh?
All in all if you’re into arcade shooters, Platypus is for you, it definitely does not disappoint. It’s quite entertaining while it lasts, and it’s an excellent game to show to friends as you can show them so many aspects of your awesome new iPhone.
Final Ratings:
Gameplay: 8.9/10 – Lots of stages, enough to last quite a while. Tons of different enemies and powerups.
Enjoyment: 7/10 – It’s a pretty nifty game and will keep you entertained no doubt – how long is the question.
Graphics: 7.5/10 – The theme isn’t the best but they executed it well.
Sound: 8/10 – For those who love nostalgia, you’ll love the sound effects, for those who don’t you can turn it off.
Technology: 8.2/10 – Ability to control via accelerometer and touch, both can be customized to your personal standards.
Replay Value: 7.8/10 – Lots of levels available but the only real motivation is the local-only high score board.
Overall Rating: 7.9/10
Further Improvements:
- Global high score board
- Different themes – a lot of people will be pulled away from buying this due to the current clay style graphics.
- Different ships and more guns!

Parachute Panic iPhone Game App Review

Parachute Panic: Parachute into addicting gameplay.
| Our Rating: 7.8/10 | ![]() |
[Screenshots] |
Version Reviewed: 1.1
Developer: FDG Entertainment [iTunes Link]
Price as of Review: $0.99
Current iTunes Rating: 3.5/5
Size: 6.2MB
Lite Version: [iTunes Link]
Parachute Panic is another game that’s showing the iPhone’s huge potential for great “cell phone,” gaming. Like almost every true iPhone hit (and trust me, Parachute Panic has been a hit on the App Store) the gameplay is incredibly simple. The key is addictiveness. The goal of Parachute Panic is to play god with stick figures and guide them to the safety of your steamboats. To do this simply swipe across the screen to blow wind around. You’ll need quick timing and fast reflexes to bring all your men onto the boats.
You’ll face challenges along the way such as thunderclouds and alien spaceships that will try to abduct your stick figures. You only have five lives, once a stick figure has been killed in any way (dropping to his death in the ocean, getting abducted, get struck by lightning) you lose a life. This can happen quite quickly. The gameplay is very challenging (on either difficulty level) and my high score is a mere 62 (anybody who’s beaten this can insult my skills in the comments).
The theme of the app is unique – all the graphics look like they were drawn on paper and scanned – the water is actually just blue lines. However the end effect is quite nice and the user interface is smooth. The statistics area like to remind you how many times you’ve killed off one of your stick figures via each death method. Unfortunately there is no global high score board which in my opinion takes out a lot of the replay value – unless you’re addicted (ok you probably are), there’s no motivation to keep playing.
All in all, Parachute Panic is a great app for a buck, the gameplay follows the ideal iPhone paradigm. Unfortunately the features are a little limited but we can abide by that for only a dollar. You can check out the lite version for your final opinion on this app.
Final Ratings:
Gameplay: 8.2/10 – Although not very complex it’s the simplicity that makes it awesome.
Enjoyment: 9/10 – Not much to say here, it’s just fun!
Graphics: 8/10 – The theme has a nice effect.
Sound: 5/10 – The effects are great but the background and narration are very annoying. Luckily you can turn just those off in the settings.
Technology: 8.2/10 – Very stable and I haven’t found a glitch. Touch controls are very responsive. Unfortunately no accelerometer control.
Replay Value: 8/10 – Many have found this game very addicting – it’s solid over one million copies.
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
Further Improvements:
- Global high score board
- A “hard” difficulty level
- Accelerometer usage

Monkey Flight iPhone Game App Review

Monkey Flight: A totally bomb pick up and play app!
Our Rating: 7.9/10 – Thumbs Up [Screenshots]
Version Reviewed: 1.12
Developer: Donut Games
Price as of Review: $0.99
Current iTunes Rating: N/A
Size: 2.4MB
Lite Version: [iTunes Link]
Monkey Flight is the simplest of pick up and play games available for the iPhone. Monkey Flight is a simple game where the controller has to launch a monkey into flight with a palm tree in order to collect an array of fruits and coconuts to gain points. The game can be played in 3 modes; Arcade, Challenges and Lite Play. The latter of which is the version available for free download to try out the game.
Now lets talk about the ‘Challenges’ mode in Monkey Flight. There’s 20 levels available for play (as of right now, keep your fingers crossed for more!). Each level has 3 goals to reach, though you only have to reach the lowest of the three to move onto the next. Now though there are some amusing levels that are going to keep you locked in for hours and hours playing, there’s the less amusing beat it in 2 seconds levels that make you wonder why your still playing.
Arcade mode on Monkey Flight offers you another amusing way of play; who can beat the top score? You’re given three monkey’s to send into flight down one of the longest maps in the game. I found this mode of Monkey Flight to be less amusing than the challenges but at the same time the challenges offer something different. The simplicity of the control system and game play make this game one of the best games I’ve played to date.
Final Ratings:
Gameplay: 8/10 – Amusing and time consuming, always gets your attention
Enjoyment: 7/10 – Hard to lose interest, until you beat all the levels…
Graphics: 8/10 – Small, but very distinguished
Sound: 9/10 – Fits the game perfectly
Technology: 6/10 – only uses touch controls, but uses them to the max, no need for more
Replay Value: 7/10 – lower rating ONLY because after the 20 levels are done (can be accomplished within 2 – 3 hours total play) you don’t really have anything to come back to.
Overall Rating: 7.9/10
Monkey Flight is a great game and a great way to kill some time when your bored, but it needs to be beefed up a bit (though the step up from the lite version is significant) before I think it’s capable of a 10/10.
-thetraynor
The Ugly Truth, what needs to change:
- Theres only 20 levels, I beat them all in 1 day
- The banana boost came to me by surprise (after you launch your monkey, tap the screen up to 2 times per monkey for a boost)
- There’s two many easy levels spread throughout the hard ones, they need to progress better

Readdledocs iPhone Business App Review

Readdledocs: A mobile file organizing revolution.
Our Rating: 8.2/10 Thumbs Up! [Screenshots]
Version Reviewed: 1.5.2
Developer: Readdle
Price as of Review: $4.99
Current iTunes Rating: 3.5/5
Size: 2.9MB
If you want to take your files to go with you on the iPhone, Readdledocs pretty much eliminates all other competition. With a large assorted variety of ways to sync files Readdledocs can manipulate and organize files on any platform, and anywhere. You’ll need an Internet connection to sync and even download files, but after that, your files will be on your iPhone’s harddrive wherever. Need to back them up? You can copy them to your computer just like you would with a normal folder (using the iPhone’s wi-fi disk feature) and even sync them to the 512MB storage space Readdle provides for free.
With Readdledoc’s abundance of settings, it’s sure to get the job done right. The files can be stored with a complete file hierarchy and any format can be saved (though not every format can be read). It can be used as a PDF reader and then email them to co-workers and friends. Readdledocs uses the standard way to read things, panning and pinching to scroll around the file. Unlike most apps, even when viewing a large file Readdledocs does not slow down, and even if it does crash, it’s saved for later!
Unfortunately this isn’t an all-in-one office app; it lacks the ability to edit and write to files. Basically the concept of Readdledocs is to retrieve files from anywhere, anyway, and to read them wherever. The execution of the concept was simply brilliant, the programmers over at Readdle are doing a fantastic job, really showing off the iPhone’s capabilities as a replacement to your Palm Handheld or Crackberry. The user interface is smooth and stable. Now we just have to wait for an update and hopefully they’ll add some new features – perhaps something with the 3.0 features? Only time will tell.
Final Ratings:
Usefulness: 8/10 – Until the concept is expanded to a complete documents app, it’s only good for reading files. Readdle will definitely do a great job on anything they expand the app to.
User Interface: 9/10 – I come across the odd glitch but the user interface is nearly as good as BeejiveIM
Price: 6/10 – Office apps are usually expensive, this one doesn’t break that paradigm, but it could…
Technology: 8.2/10 – Great so far but I can think of more features
Execution of Concept: 9.6/10 – Readdle’s developers are some of the best I’ve seen. Bravo.
Overall Rating: 8.2/10
Further Improvements: (Note to the developer!)
- Background Running – How about an alert popup when a new file is ready to sync?
- File editing!!
- Basic image editing.
- Fix some glitches – mainly performance with network drives.
- Display settings for those reading an eBook or long documents.
- Monospaced formatting for shared code.

Super Marble Roll iPhone Game App Review

Super Marble Roll: You’re in perfect control now.
Version Reviewed: 1.0
Developer: iScape Games Limited
Price as of Review: $0.99
Current iTunes Rating: 3.5/5
Lite Version: [iTunes Link]
Review by Andy Horsman at iPhone App Reviewer
Super Marble Roll is an excellently developed tilt control iPhone game in which you must guide a 3D sphere into it’s destination. You’ll be faced by tons of amazingly challenging levels in an advanced 3D environment. Trying to collect all the jems as well as staying within the time limit will provide an addicting challenge which hasn’t been seen on the iPhone since Super Monkey Ball (yes this game is a bit of a knockoff). It’s also perfect for pick up and play gamers, as levels are around 30 seconds long (you can get time bonuses) and the game saves your progress when interrupted.
While playing you’ll notice the very smooth gameplay, the speed or stability is not hindered by the app’s excellent control responses. The graphics are a little dull but rendered very well, satisfactory to a casual cell phone gamer. There are quite a few annoyances however, specifically with some of the harder levels where you’ll find yourself diving off a platform, although you land correctly, the drop counts as a fail, and you lose a life. Another huge annoyance is that when you start a new game, you’re starting from the bottom all over again, this means going through the same levels over and over again.
The lack of menu and aesthetics in non-gameplay graphics is a bit of a turn off for this game, especially the lack of statistics to fuel an addiction. You’re local high score board only saves your top five scores, and there’s no online scoreboard which unfortunately breaks the recent trend of iPhone apps. Overall if you’re a fan of marbles, accelerometer games, or looking for a nice pick up and play game, you can’t beat Super Marble Roll’s $0.99 price. Get it while it’s hot!
Final Ratings:
Gameplay: 7/10 – A classic gameplay, unfortunately it’s lacking a bit
Enjoyment: 9/10 – Definitely something I’ll keep on my iPod
Graphics: 7.9/10 – Fairly good, could use a bit of jazz and colour however, maybe user customizable colour schemes
Sound: 7/10 – Nothing annoying…
Technology: 9.3/10 – Flawless stability and control
Replay Value: 7/10 – Addictive but some annoyances might stop your from coming back.
Overall Rating: 7.9/10

Further Improvements: (Notes to the developer!)
- Online high score board
- Advanced start, choose starting level (even do the levels in sections)
- Graphics themes
